Environmental Field Technician

Certis Solutions is seeking a Field Technician to join our team in the Bay Area. This is an excellent opportunity for someone eager to gain hands-on experience across multiple disciplines, including geology, environmental remediation, and soil vapor extraction. The ideal candidate will be flexible, proactive, and comfortable with fieldwork across the Bay Area, including troubleshooting equipment and tools. Once trained, you will work independently in the field, but with a strong support system in place.

Pay Range: $70,000.00 – $80,000.00 DOE

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct drilling, boring, and soil sampling to characterize soil on project sites.
  • Operate and maintain soil vapor extraction systems (training provided).
  • Troubleshoot machines and tools in the field to ensure proper function and efficiency.
  • Travel to various project sites across the Bay Area, working independently once trained.
  • Complete fieldwork, including equipment setup, sampling, and reporting.
  • Perform regular equipment pickup and drop-off at the Oakland office.
  • Complete reports and computer work from home when not in the field.
  • Lift up to 50 lbs, such as ice chests full of temperature-sensitive samples.

Qualifications:

  • Ability to troubleshoot field equipment and machines.
  • Comfortable with driving both personal and company vehicles.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and a good driving record.

Training & Schedule:

  • Training will take place over several weeks or months, depending on experience and aptitude, with hands-on mentoring from senior team members.
  • Standard working hours are 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with occasional early shifts or overtime depending on jobsite conditions and locations.
  • Flexibility required based on location and project needs.
