Certis Solutions is seeking a qualified Engineering Project Manager with the following background:

Pay Range: $67-77/hr

Must Have Qualifications

P.E. is preferred, but not required.

Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.

Local experience is required (Placer County, City of Roseville, City of Sacramento, County of Sacramento, and surrounding)

  • Surveying Techniques: Proficiency in surveying methods, equipment, and technology, including total stations, GPS, and GIS software.
  • Project Management: Strong skills in budgeting, scheduling, and directing surveying operations to meet project deadlines and budgets.
  • Leadership: Ability to coordinate, prioritize, and distribute workload effectively among survey department staff.
  • Problem-Solving: Demonstrated creativity, foresight, and mature judgment in anticipating and solving surveying problems.
  • Technical Drawing and Drafting: Competence in using computer-aided drafting (CAD) software to prepare accurate and complete surveying drawings and documents.
  • Construction Staking: Experience in overseeing and performing construction staking calculations and coordinating with general contractors.
  • Boundary Analysis: Proficiency in performing boundary analysis and resolution, including interpreting legal descriptions and title reports.
  • Map Preparation: Skill in preparing various types of maps and legal descriptions, such as plats, easement maps, and ALTA Maps.
  • Quality Control: Ability to review survey work for completeness and accuracy and resolve mapping issues.
  • Record Keeping: Competence in maintaining accurate records, including timesheets, project budgets, and documentation of surveying activities.

Administrative Responsibilities

  • Oversees all surveying operations including budgeting, scheduling, directing subordinates, prioritizing multiple projects and deadlines, and communication with management staff.
  • Coordinates, prioritizes, and distributes workload within the survey department to ensure the efficient, cost-effective utilization of staff to meet deadlines.
  • Reviews and approves staff timesheets.
  • Attends staff meetings for coordination and scheduling of work with all departments.
  • Prepares proposals on projects with subsequent project management responsibilities.
  • Monitors and maintains project budgets & productivity.
  • Plans and implements improvements for the surveying department (long term and short term).
  • Acknowledges and implements appropriate suggestions from support staff.
  • Maintains records of performance for survey personnel and provides written and oral reports.
  • Provides training opportunities to ensure staff maintains current knowledge regarding industry and company standards.
  • Assists in setting up and maintaining Survey Standards.
  • Provides accurate account of time spent on projects with descriptions for each time entry.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Technical Responsibilities:

  • Oversees and performs surveying assignments including drafting and creating document deliverables. Oversees and prepares accurate, complete, and value-added work products and performs complex survey computations.
  • Oversees construction-staking calculations.
  • Analyzes and reviews work of survey crews.
  • Develops and enforces field codes and stringing (field to office data collection).
  • Oversees preparation of cut sheets for field crews.
  • Interprets design plans for construction staking calculations, identifies plan discrepancies and conflicts, and coordinates with engineering staff to ensure proper interpretation.
  • Understands tolerances and accuracy as they relate to project needs.
  • Analyzes title reports and legal descriptions.
  • Performs boundary analysis and resolution.
  • Prepares plats and legal descriptions and stamps and signs maps and legal descriptions.
  • Prepares record boundary and easement maps.
  • Creates Tentative Maps, Parcel Maps, Final Maps, Record of Survey, and ALTA Maps.
  • Works with engineering department to identify proposed easements.
  • Reviews all work for completeness and accuracy.
  • Deals directly with map checker to resolve project mapping issues.
  • Maintains the look and consistency company drawings.
