Certis is seeking experienced Restoration Field Technicians/Equipment Operators for exciting projects across Northern California. This position plays a key role in providing field leadership for the implementation and management of restoration projects. The ideal candidate will assist in habitat inventorying, plant propagation programs, and contribute to community outreach efforts promoting conservation initiatives. Additional responsibilities include site survey assessments, report preparation, and data entry to ensure successful project execution.


Must-Have Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in habitat restoration, including project implementation and maintenance
  • Valid California driver’s license with a good driving record
  • Ability to work independently and supervise others effectively
  • Strong knowledge of local flora and weed species
  • Ability to obtain a Pesticide Applicator’s Certificate within one year of hire

Top Skills / Key Job Responsibilities

  • Lead and assist in the implementation and maintenance of habitat restoration projects (tree/shrub plantings, irrigation, invasive weed management, and herbivory control)
  • Direct labor crews, including temporary labor staff, in the field to complete tasks
  • Operate small equipment (tractors, bobcats, loaders, backhoes) for specialized restoration projects (e.g., wetland construction, test plots)
  • Install, operate, and maintain manual and automated irrigation systems
  • Conduct weed abatement in upland and wetland environments using various methods (weed-eaters, herbicides, manual labor)
  • Maintain tools, vehicles, and equipment in good working condition
  • Report on project status, staffing, equipment needs, and schedules
